About Us

‘Ula’Ula is a Hawai’i based company that was founded in 2012 by big island born and raised, Jeff Silva. His vision was simple - to get his customers the best fish product there was by being sustainable, catching fish by pole/line/ hook, and delivered all by himself. Having a long history of almost 20 years working with one of the best local brands, Kona Brewing Company, he built a very high, sought-out demand for his main product, Ahi. The color of the fish when cared for correctly, presented, and put in front of the customer was that beautiful ‘Ula ‘Ula (red) that many from around the world come all the way to Hawai’i for.

In 2020, Jeff was approached by Josh Harris and Casey McManus of Discovery's Deadliest Catch. He made them equal partners in ‘Ula’Ula as he felt this was a great way to showcase the grind, struggle, and appreciation that goes into being a to-date fisherman. Shortly after, a new Deadliest Catch show called, “Bloodline” was created. The show was an amazing experience, however, trying to expand the business outside of Hawai’i was an idea, but was never what Jeff’s true vision for ‘Ula’Ula was. 

To date, all of our fish is distributed here locally. And if you're here in Kona, you can enjoy our fish at Kona Brewing Company where it all started.

In April of 2022, Jeff Silva acquired back 100% ownership of ‘Ula’Ula with his main focus being one thing, Ohana. We thank all of you for being a part of this journey. We wouldn’t be here with out your support, and can’t wait for you all to see what’s next. Big things to come.
